Tesco VRStore
Technology used : Unity 3D, C#, Oculus Gear VR, Artificial Intelligence, API calls
Premise
The idea of the project was to allow Tesco shoppers to reduce the time spent shopping and to experience a new and innovative predictive VR experience that analyzes their shopping habits. It does so by offering a customized virtual space to shop while using an interactive interface from the comfort of their home, using their VR headset.
How it works
Using Oculus Gear VR, the user logs into the virtual store and is ready to look around and start shopping for their groceries.
The system then utilizes the previous shopping history, if any, to build a customized store that fits the user’s shopping habits and needs. It then connects to a nearby TESCO store in order to retrieve accurate prices and stock availability information.
The application spawns the appropriate product shelves and displays up-to-date pricing underneath. The shopper can access more information by clicking on an INFO button that would provide more details such as nutrition facts, dietary restrictions and more.
After the tailor-made store is constructed, the user is faded into the room and given the freedom to walk around or press on interactive VR Buttons such as Info, Buy, Cart, Next, Checkout and Exit which mimic the shopping environment.
